As Whatcom County is now approved to be in Phase 2 of the Governor’s Safe Start Plan, we at SWFA will also begin to loosen the constraints of public access to our facilities. Beginning on Monday June 8, lobby access to our stations for the purpose of receiving information and assistance as well as requests for public information will resume. The use of masks is strongly encouraged to be used within our public space, but not required if the duration of occupation is limited to 5 minutes or less. If the duration of occupying our facility is greater than 5 minutes, then all persons occupying the space shall be required to wear a mask.
During phase 2, access to our meeting rooms for public use is still not allowed, even for groups of 5 or less. Only after we enter phase 3 as a County will we then make our meeting rooms available for group use following the guidance recommended by health officials and the safe start plan provisions.
A friendly reminder to everyone, that if you are sick, please remain home, wash your hands often, maintain physical distancing of 6 feet from people outside your household when possible, and wearing a mask in public is effective at minimizing the spread of the virus.
I wish to thank everyone for their commitment to minimize the spread of the virus, as the efforts our community has made are tangible and identifiable.
